Spicy Pasta Arrabiata

  Cook the pasta according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

  In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and red pepper flakes, and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.

  Stir in the diced tomatoes (with their juices), tomato paste, and pepper paste. Bring the sauce to a simmer and cook for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it thickens slightly.

  Season the sauce with salt and black pepper to taste. If you prefer a smoother sauce, you can use an immersion blender to blend it until smooth at this point.

  Add the cooked pasta to the skillet with the sauce and toss to coat the pasta evenly.

  Cook for another 1-2 minutes, allowing the pasta to absorb some of the sauce.

  Serve the spicy pasta arrabbiata hot, garnished with chopped fresh basil leaves and grated Parmesan cheese, if desired.
